Special Zine Release Event

It's been a little while since I wrote a blog post, but look: we've made it through almost this whole, wild year. While it's easy to focus on the strife and the hardships that 2020 has brought, there's also a case to be made for staying positive and remembering all of the great things that have happened this year too. I'm grateful to have done three streaming shows despite the difficulties of quarantine during COVID-19 and the Oregon wildfires. I'm grateful that my students can still receive lessons and musical enrichment via video and other software platforms, despite being isolated at home with no in-person activities like bands or sports. I'm grateful that my family and I are healthy and have stayed diligent about pandemic protocols. And I'm grateful to have all of you to share my creativity with through it all. So with that in mind, I'd like to announce one more show for 2020, and it's a very different type of show: a zine release event!

Saturday December 12 5pm Pacific (8pm Eastern)

To cap off this year's zine project, I'll be hosting this live event on Zoom to celebrate the official release of my longest and most in-depth piece of writing to date, Citation Needed. It's a chance-based romp through the annals of Wikipedia, a project I started (and almost completed) back in 2016 but it's taken until now to finally settle on its final format, as an ebook. Encompassing text from 600 Wikipedia articles, I'm so glad to be able to finally release it! To celebrate the 30+ zines I've created this year, I'll be giving readings from select zines, telling the stories behind the zines, and answering all of your questions. You will get to participate in a few Concept Pieces and a special musical performance. There may even be a surprise zine or two that you won't be able to find anywhere else.... You won't want to miss it!

If you're confused what all of this zine talk is about, you can read my earlier blog post about it or just dive right in to my online store at justinbulava.bandcamp.com. And to help you get familiar with my work before the event, I'm offering a 20% discount on everything in the store until Dec 12. Use the code WOW20 at checkout!

Stay tuned for the Zoom link in a future email. I'm excited to do something different with this event and I hope you can join me!

Justin
